What are the Corks for?
At Beach-Fit we don’t like to do things normal, every session we award a prize in recognition to the person in which we see has excelled, increased their fitness level over a number of weeks, or to the person we think has worked their very hardest.
We issue out a stamped logoed cork, you can redeem three corks for a free session.
Why corks you ask…they are weird, buoyant, talking points… not generally something you can easily misplace like a plastic chip, coin or a paper voucher. Plus the corks are environmentally friendly and recyclable so we do our bit for the environment we love training in. Plus they are all marked so no-one can pull one from a bottle of wine and try and redeem it…we would know…and those who have tried to do that in the past have been punished with 100 sand dune climbs for each “fake cork” (while everyone else sits and watches and admires the sunset from the top of the sand dune)!
Is Beach-Fit dangerous and could I get hurt?
Challenging? Intense? Tough? Yes, we are all these things and more and due to the nature of training no matter where there is always an element of risk and chance of injury. However, we hold safety at a premium and do not actively plan any exercises that we believe put you in danger of serious injury or death.
We are training in the great out doors and with this we expect a certain level of competency and common sense from all who participate, the ecology of the environment prevails here, respect your environment and remain aware of your actions and footing.
Beach-Fit is meant to be an exercise session that you get to tell your friends and workmates about the next day when your sore and still finding sand in places.
Our Instructors are First Aid trained and are constantly planning and risk assessing the area and we take safety very highly.
Can people come to watch?
Yes but we prefer them to get involved and join in, why should you do all the hard work while they stand around and make fun of your grunts and faces.
Will I need to know how to swim?
No, and if you didn’t want to get wet you don’t have to (unless its raining).
What if I don’t like a particular exercise?
Beach-Fit instructors strive to cater for everyone at all times, but if you are uncomfortable let the instructor know and generally they will give you a suitable alternative or in some cases let you take a small rest.
Do I defiantly need a change of clothing?
No, but we insist you bring one just in-case the weather changes or you get dirt, sandy and/or wet.
I am physically disabled can I still take part?
This is down to the session instructor, we never like saying No to anyone looking to increase their fitness and enjoy the outdoors, but from experience wheelchairs and crutches don’t tend to work very well on soft sand and sand dunes.
A lot of Beach-Fit is planned exercises spaced by jogging and running distances over varying terrain so generally the sessions are designed to challenge physically able bodied people with varied balance, coordination, dexterity, stamina and team work at a group pace. But with that said if you want to give it a go, get in contact with the session Instructor and have a chat.
What should I do if I lose my event pass?
We cannot redeem any outstanding sessions you have paid for without the event pass. Please don’t lose it! Sometimes Instructors may hold onto it between sessions for you, just ask.
I have an Event Pass from last season, can I still use this?
Yes of course, they have no expiry dates unless expressed on the event pass..
I am not very fit, can I still attend Beach-Fit?
Yes, if you are not fit this is an excellent way of starting on your fitness journey. Have a chat with the Instructor and let them know your current fitness level before the session. We ask that you pace yourself and be mindful of staying within your comfort zone.
I think Beach-Fit may be too easy for my level of fitness?
Please make the Instructor aware of this when you arrive, they can issue you with more advanced adaptations to the planned exercises to offer a more challenging session to you.
I filled out some paperwork before I joined in a session, what was that?
We ask everyone to fill in and sign a medical PARQ (physical activity readiness questionnaire) form and read the terms and conditions of the Beach-Fit sessions. This information lets the Instructor assess if you can take part in Beach-Fit and if there is anything the Instructor needs to know medically about any conditions and/or injuries that you may have so they can prescribe advise on exercises that could potentially be exacerbated by undertaking physical exercise. Our Instructors regard your health and safety as paramount and strive to maintain a high standard of care for you during your session. The PARQ is there to flag up any issues that may need looking into further by a medical professional. If an Instructor turns you away and requests you speak to a GP, don’t be offended they are just looking after your health first and foremost.
On the PARQ form we asked you to list your contact details for two reasons:
- To confirm that you are who you say
- To take your email address to contact you about future offers and promotions.
As always we adhere strictly to the data protection act and will not sell your information to any third party. If you wish your information to be taken from our database a formal request may be made in writing to Evolution Fitness Professionals Ltd.
I wish Beach-Fit was closer to me, could you put one on?
Unfortunately our Locations have been chosen specifically with a lot of factors in mind not just a sandy beach. We head-hunt quality professionals and put them through a rigorous training process to meet our high standards of how we expect a Beach-Fit session should run and content. Not every Instructor is suitable for every location as teaching styles vary as much as the locations and weather so matching a location and suitable Instructor isn’t always as easy as putting on a standard bootcamp.
We are always looking out for new Instructors willing to learn how to teach in the most diverse and adaptive locations and session plans, and new viable locations with an eager customer base ready to be challenged. We are always up for hearing from new potential Beach-Fitters. For or information Contact us
